Adrian, you've got a lot of threads going on here, and they're tangled.

1. I have not invited anyone to agree that people are their "race." I believe that people come in a range of types from identifiable physical origins, amount of melanin in the skin, etc. It is a social construct, not a biological one that assigns a "meaning" to skin color.

2. Your "whataboutism" is absurd. The poster is too "America-centric?" Well, I suppose if the school were located in China or Japan, then it would show what students who attend school there would look like. As it is, although the school is located in America (or even, widely, "the Americas") the poster still includes people who do not have traditional European/American origins. As you know, the only "Americans" are indigenous people, so I could argue that the poster contained no "Americans" at all.

3. You appear to be going well out of your way to accuse me of "racial grievance." If you read Part I, I disclosed that I had certainly not been looking for anything. I saw a huge panel of paintings addressing me, and when I looked at them, I could not believe that they were as stereotypical as they were. All I'm doing is reporting on what I saw and asking people to make their own assumptions. I'm not making anything up. I'm telling people what is already there.

4. How much do you read on Medium, and what writers do you regularly follow. Believe me, Medium has international creators and an international audience. According to what they write, racism is an issue everywhere. "Obsess?" I suppose that if you're a black or brown person and your ancestors spent more than 200 years in slavery followed by nearly another 200 of oppression, you might be "obsessed." Of course, what we're really "obsessed" with is being able to live lives free from racial oppression. However, as long as there are people like you who wish to believe that recognition equals division, then we're not going to get there.

5. I've spent waaaay more time responding to you than you deserve, as I'm sure I can't influence your thinking, though I've attempted to explain why it is as it is. Give people "a break." Give who a break? Give a break to people who have decided that they have the standing to decide when, if ever, my circumstances should be the same as theirs? I think not. Shalom and Salaam.
