ALL 50 CLAPS for someone who appreciates the many aspects of Art and Science present in basket weaving, quiltmaking, silversmithing, and the like. People forget that what we once called "the Useful Arts" and "Industrial Arts" are, in fact, the technology of our daily lives.
I'm pretty certain that many of the Republicans who deride "basket weaving" probably buy fancy, hand-woven ties, carry handmade, tooled and stitched bags, and buy hand-blown glassware. I guess people only hate basket-weaving if someone else receives the basket.
N.B. My alma mater had an Artisanal Art program. Unfortunately, it was costly, and many considered it impractical.
Thanks for reminding people that Art is not frivolity.
