"Always?" Always, when? We certainly didn't wear "white" hairstyles when enslaved, and we wore "white" hairstyles for most of the 20th century because our natural hair was not accepted in the mainstream culture. Black women would show up for work with treated hair, then switch to an Afro. When they appeared at work with the Afro, they got fired. "Always" is a lot of the time.

I find your piece hyperbolic and self serving. You are not oppressed by the color of your skin, no matter how much you protest otherwise.
