Barack Obama should have had the most "privilege" in the world. How was he treated by whites who were, obviously not his intellectual or moral equal? Do you know what that's called? It's called "white privilege."

Financial privilege is a red herring used to give people a hook on which to hang their supposedly "race-blind" arguments. Poor white people would always prefer to be poor and white rather than rich and black. As current events show us, they prefer to be poor and white even when Republican interests hamper their needs. Why? Because they're willing to deny themselves benefits as long as they believe they're also denying it to someone of color. As Heather McGhee says, "That's why we can't have nice things."
