South Carolinians love him because he's an obsequious black Republican. I assume that being gay is not an issue in South Carolina, as the presence of Lindsey Graham speaks volumes. If he were gay, however, it could hurt him in the nationals, but he's only at 2% anyway. No one is seriously considering him.
