Black people are homeless. White people are homeless. Brown people are homeless. Veterans are homeless. Drug users are homeless. None of these people or groups should be homeless. Of that there is no argument. However, they have not been made homeless because the administration is providing relief to Ukrainians.
The Federal government is not re-routing funds used for addressing homelessness and hunger; it never spent it anyway. That's what we should be addressing; we should NOT be attempting to pretend that there is an equivalence between people who are discriminated against and people who are getting blown to bits by powerful weapons at the hands of an enemy in real time.
Further, what is happening in the Ukraine has implications well beyond the facts on the ground there. Putin has shown himself to be hungry for a land and power grab, and much of Europe has reason to monitor his behavior closely. As a NATO member, and a major power, the US has reason to monitor this as well. Please don't pretend that this is an instance of merely "...helping white folks when they're in trouble,..."
If you believe yourself to be someone who disseminates fair and accurate information, then I implore you to double and triple-check your sources. You aim to make the Biden administration seem frivolous and trivial by writing, "But they can send out crack pipes." This, the final sentence of your essay is hard hitting, but is untrue. Please attend.
