Bren, you know, and I know, that Judy, and all the rest, don't have to ask. They already know as well. However, asserting their "puzzlement" over a divided America is their way of hiding the painful truth.
I'm always amazed when white conservatives revel in the term "snowflake" for those they consider liberal. Those same conservatives, and many liberals as well, just don't want to get their feelings hurt by admitting the wrong they've done. What does it say about the national character, or lack, thereof? What does that say about the cowardice of people today? Although everyone "knows," they still indulge in the mental sleight of "asking."
