Charles, I of course have to respond, "Not all whites," which is what you already know. However, as both you and I have pointed out, there is no way that ANY competent person should lose to Donald Trump. It's possible that a white male other than Biden could have won, but Kamala Harris should not have lost. Sadly, racism and misoogyny, were the cause.

My husband is white. I spend a great deal of time in white spaces, and I know the subtle, and not-so-subtle, offenses that come my way. My presence is often unexpected and considered offensive, or, I can be ignored entirely. People question my competence, and when I prove to be competent (and then some) they are again, offended and even angry. Finally, if I'm not around, then folks forget my existence when forming affinity groups (book clubs, writers' groups, professional organizations, etc.)

Most white people, even those who consider themselves "enlightened," do this. They are simply not in a place where they believe black and brown people can be equal. They may not be consciously aware, but that unconscious is onoe strong actor/ factor.
