Daniel, typical white person response. Your perceptions are, in fact, "colored" by the hue of your skin. One of the first things white people do is attempt to make excuses for racist behavior. In our cases, we are not "guessing." We are relating our lived experiences. These are not experiences that you have had, or will ever have, so please admit the possibility that you could be wrong.

We don't know who's under the suit; we just know that whoever they are, they disappointed the children of color. I really like the "vision" thing. So, the visual impairment causes the character to skip black children. Again, fatigue, inexperience, training-- they can all be "reasons," but for some "reason," these impairments cause them to recognize white children. If you really like thinking about "things," then you need to think some more. You also need to realize that your liking to believe that you are correct may cause you to treat someone who thinks differently as "incorrect," in which case you believe you have nothing new to learn. Nothing is more important than knowing that you don't always know.
