Granted, Amazon is sometimes a necessity, but I do everything I can to avoid patronizing it. I'm waiting for a local, but large, bookstore to open where a Barnes and Noble closed more than a year ago. I want my shelves and shelves of choices, my magazines from other countries, my Music and Movie section, and the odd or unusual books that the major, major stores didn't carry. Borders, Waterstone's, B. Dalton, Rizzoli's (my area had a lot of bookstores) Brentano's (remember Brentano's?) and Paperback Booksmiths were all wonderful stores that are now gone.
