Great piece. I want more Americans to ponder why some groups still have to beg for the rights that other Americans enjoy, and who is it who has the standing to decide if, when, and how "others" deserve rights? Native Americans, people of color, women, LGBTQ+ folks can't just have rights; we/they have to wait for someone else's political good will.
