I am effing sick and tired of people who don't know how government works complaining. Tell these Black men that the President can't do it all by himself or herself.
In 2008, "everybody and they mama" went to the polls to vote for Barack Obama. I don't know what kind of miracle they were expecting him to pull ONLY ON BEHALF OF BLACK PEOPLE, but life in the U.S. doesn't work that way. He passed the Affordable Care Act, which we KNOW has helped many brothers and sisters.
NOW, IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2010, in the mid-terms, Black people stayed home. We lost the Congress. LET ME PASS ON A CIVICS LESSON. Only the majority party can bring bills to the floor in Congress. With a Republican majority that hated Blacks, Republicans didn't bring isht to the floor that would give Barack Obama a success. THEY WOULDN'T EVEN BRING UP A BILL TO REPAIR THE DAMN CAPITOL WHEN CHUNKS OF IT WERE FALLING TO THE GROUND.
In 2012, the faithful came out for Obama, but with no Congress, he STILL COULDN'T GET A BILL INTRODUCED, BUT AT LEAST HE HAD THE SENATE. Boom! 2014 and we all stay home again, thus losing the Senate and the ability to confirm high government officials and to have nominations approved for the Supreme Court. DO YOU REMEMBER THAT THE DAMN REPUBLICANS KEPT MERRICK GARLAND WAITING OUTSIDE THEIR DOORS FROM FEBRUARY TO NOVEMBER?
We stayed home in 2016 (yes, we did) and Republicans had a field day appointing conservative judges, who not only stole womens' right to choose, but also quashed Affirmative Action and Voting Rights, and made Donald Trump king. Don't tell me about what Barack Obama did or didn't do. I KNOW WHY he could or couldn't do what he did--now you know too.
Spare me the "nothing's going to happen, "nothing for the people," or "she's a woman. Keep your eye on the ball. We need to know what the future is for next year, five years, and 10 years, and I can guarantee you that if Harris loses, YOU WILL NOT LIKE IT. The President needs both the House and the Senate to have a successful administration. Get out there and vote all the way down the ballot. And please, heed the words of my pal, Yello Pain. They will CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
