I can't agree. Gladstone did an excellent job, but Academy Awards aren't given out because it's time to honor victims. White America isn't going to move beyond its genocidal past with Natives just as winning both Academy Awards (and the Presidency) did not move white Americans away from their genocidal past and racist present with black people. The awards are given out because some performer turned in a particularly good performance. I thought "Poor Things" was a strange film, but Emma Stone KILLED it with a performance that had to be simultaneously overt and nuanced. In my opinion, she deserved that Oscar.
Can you demonstrate that the genocide in Gaza is the reason why the Academy selected Emma Stone's performance? I'm not following that logic.
