Holding the NRA to Account for School Shootings
I’m one of those folks who still sends Christmas cards. It’s a practice I just can’t stop. It’s old-fashioned, it’s time consuming, and it can be expensive. Before self-stick stamps, it was hard on the tongue. I generally send cards with good wishes and a desire to give a tangible greeting to those I love. For the past few years, though, I’ve sent a few out of vengeance.
I SEND CARDS IN THE NAMES OF THOSE KILLED IN MASS SHOOTINGS.
I WANT THE BELLS, THE BAUBLES, AND THE HALOS OF ANGELS TO BE SHADOWED BY SORROW.
The NRA, some notorious members of the House and Senate, and a few governors, need reminding that their love of guns is dangerous and is pandering to those whose egos need boosting, not with accomplishments, but with ammunition. This Christmas, there are families who are mourning murdered members for the first time. There are others whose hearts are broken anew each year.
I want the people who send “thoughts and prayers” after every preventable shooting to see the names of the victims. Every year, I find a list of people who have been killed in mass shootings. It’s usually the Sandy Hook victims, or victims of the two Auroras, people innocently clubbing at The Pulse, or any of the remaining others. There’s no…
