I'm a middle class, interracially married woman from Washington, DC. During my childhood, we lived next door to an interracial couple, and by the 80s there were four people who had married interracially on that street. I no longer live in DC, but I'd go back there in a hot minute. I love seeing middle and upper-middle class blacks in large numbers, and I don't get that where I live presently.

I know the "too black, but not black enough" issue. I've lived it in some places, but I also love to shout back that my brown skin and self love place me firmly in the "Black Club."
