I'm a retired public school teacher. Although I have no biological children, I believe I have more stake in the future of the nation than many people with children. Vance's comments are too close to the views of those who owned people earlier for three centuries of U.S. history. They had a greater voice in government due to the number of people they "owned," and their stake in the nation was definitely not in the intest of those stolen and purchased people.
Do you know what our stake in the nation is? When each individual participates in the Census, then they contribute their "share" to the nation's future. Frankly, J.D. Vance doesn't believe what he says. I'm sure there are plenty of people with children he would just as soon prefer have no rights at all. Sorry, hon. You're wrong on this one. One need not be a mother, despite the various ways to accomplish the deed, to matter or to care.
