I'm old enough that there was still prayer in public schools (which I hated.) We would begin the day with either some psalm or prayer of the teacher's choice, and there is one verse I remember especially well.
100th Psalm, Verse 3
"Know ye that the Lord, He is God; it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves. We are His people, and the sheep of His pasture."
Through centures of slavery, abuse, lack of rights, and discrimination, white America has made black America what it is. Having helped create a metaphorical Frankenstein's Monster, white America now wants to blame the existence of the Monster on the Monster itself, and not its corrupt creators.
All of these people know better. They know what they have done. They know they are to blame, but accepting blame means apologizing, making reparations, being willing to accept that they are not supermen, and, most of all, bearing the existential crisis (as they had to do during Barack Obama's presidency) that (horrors!) people of other hues and languages are as average, as brilliant, and, in many cases, superior to them. What measures would YOU not take to continue that lie?
