I'm still angry about black people being either against, or afraid of, vaccination. I'm going to say the "S" word. Stupid. That's right. I've heard stupid reasons for not getting vaccinated. I've argued with irrational people who believe that the vaccine gives you the "Mark of the Beast," or that Bill Gates (or insert the name of some other appropriate white billionaire) wants to insert a microchip into you in order to (appropriate Capitalist scheme.) I've heard people call COVID "the white man's disease." I've heard others say that getting the vaccine means that you don't trust God.

My favorite, of course, given some black people's mistrust of government, is that the vaccine will GIVE you COVID. In my city, when health authorities specifically opened mass vax sites in black communities, white people quickly came to get in line for their shots. What more compelling argument can you get for being vaccinated than that white people are taking up spots meant for you?

I've stopped arguing, though I'm still angry. Some of those folks stopped arguing with me after they got sick. At least one other stopped arguing with me because she's dead--of COVID.
