Interesting! I grew up in Washington, DC, and the neighborhood where my family moved was nearly all Jewish. This was in the late 50s rather than the 70s. Fortunately, I don't recall any scary behavior--in fact, we played with the Jewish kids until their families moved away during the next couple of years. Believe it or not, after more than 60 years of being a black neighborhood in "Chocolate City," it is quickly becoming white again in a city that has now lost its black majority.
