Is that what YOU believe, or are you just siding with the person who IS white in this encounter? What do you know of Christian Cooper's expertise? Anything at all? What makes you think you have the right to question it? Are YOU an expert birdwatcher?

What was Christian Cooper doing in Central Park? HE WAS BIRDWATCHING, for God's sake. He wasn't some random black guy taking his binoculars out for a walk; he was looking for birds. Now, it doesn't necessarily mean that one follows the other, but one might presume that a person goes birdwatching because they know something about birds. Just because YOU question his competence doesn't mean that the rest of us should.

Your essay is a series of complaints, inferences, and not-very-well-hidden racial insults. You are not making an argument. You are criticizing a network for offering Cooper a show, making an age-old hint that perhaps his color means that he lacks competence, and you're unhappy that the result of his encounter is that he got a lucky break. Just imagine! If Karen had followed directions in the first place, then Cooper would probably not be getting a show.

Now, what if Cooper is not competent and knows little about birdwatching? He can still host a show about birdwatching and let OTHER PEOPLE talk about birds. If the network is giving him a show just because, then he would be no different than Paris Hilton, the Kardashians, and Donald Trump; people who have shows because their name is a commodity but who have no skill to speak of.

Before you question my motives (Little Missy) question your own.
