It is the greatest frustration of my life that we cannot perceive of one another as being intelligent or talented without equating that with "whiteness." I'm black. Whatever I do, no matter what it is, is what Black people do because I'm doing it while black. Decades after the battles of civil rights for the semblance of physical equality, we still can't look upon ourselves as intellectually equal, and, if we are, we can be ridiculed by people of any and all races. I really hope we get rid of this before I die.
