I've always been of the opinion that women dress for other women. It's only other women who appreciate the appropriateness of the ensemble, how you matched your appearance to the occasion, have that "insider" knowledge of the subtle way you featured an accessory (without flaunting a name brand) and so on. Anyone can look at a piece of art. The artist wants a connoiseur to appreciate the work that went into it. It's not about outdoing other women, it's about the art of dressing.
If your aim is to impress men or make other women envious, then your job is easy. Show either skin or money.
