I've certainly seen the circumstances of which you speak, but I must still disagree. We live in a country where the majority rules, and if the majority makes rules that don't benefit the poor, then we can't blame Democrats. Obamacare? It could have helped more people if Republican governors had been on board. The recent IRA? It is bringing structures and dollars into the neighborhoods you describe, and while Republicans voted against it unanimously, they show up when the ribbons are cut and the big checks are displayed. Out-of-reach housing prices? We can we can make things better, even if we can't solve th em.
I understand your point. Poverty, as it is lived, is ugly to look at and scary to encounter. Most of us would like to address its issues from a distance rather than up close, but even if we chose to address them from a distance, our attention would help. So, let's vote for the ones who will actually help.
