I've had Charles Blow's idea for some years, but the problem with his take is that it's scattershot. If you're black and you want to move South in order to make a political difference, then you have to do it strategically. For example, moving to South Carolina isn't going to net you much, but changing a congressional district or two in Virginia or Georgia could change the House.

Now, where to live and where to work? Let's have some very wealthy celebs do what Tyler Perry did. Open up a large corporation that then offers good jobs. Expand an HBCU with another discipline or two, and hire more staff and gain more students. Building housing will take time, but we have several years to do that before the 2030 Census, where the difference could even show in Electoral College votes. It can't happen everywhere at once, but it can happen in a couple of "somewheres." Is anybody out there brave enough to be the first one?

As my husband, the Civil War buff says, "mass your fire."
