Johnny, oh, how I feel you. I recently wrote an essay about the hypocrisy of white folks who may be "pretend" allies, or not at all, but who don't care about their racism. Here is the response I got from one reader, who was clearly put out at having white allydom questioned.

"Oh please. Take your allies where you can find them and work to defeat fascism."

Obviously, if you're going to talk about racism, you'd better not expect white people not to be racist. You'd better be grateful for the allies you're "lucky" enough to have and be grateful that you have them. You'd better not question power...or else.
