Let's just stop making excuses for the things we do that are wrong. Most black parents beat their kids (yes, I said "beat") because we have learned to imitate traditions that don't make sense and because we have an overblown sense of "respect." The same insistence on "respect" that makes us hit our chldren is the one that makes street gangs shoot one another. Violence is dangerous no matter what the source.
