Miguelitro, I don't know if you consider yourself "white" or "white adjacent," but you seem to be doing what white people do by assuming that I don't really understand how to interpret events that happen in my own life.
All I ask of other people is that they simply pay attention to the interactions around them to see who treats whom how. If they find that there are many "nuances" to the types of interactions that black, brown, and white people have, then great. They may also find, to their surprise, if not dismay, that many black people are treated differently. One can either find other "reasons" for such treatment, or one may be unable to find reasons other than racism. If you are processing 50 people in a line, then what reason is there to treat any of them differently? Why would there be any need to "diss" anyone? Why?
You may want to do a little "in-person" inquiry of your own by sharing my essay with people who are black and brown and seeing how much they shake their heads in agreement with, and recognition of, such interactions. It's neither in our heads nor in our abilities to suss out "nuances" that are at issue. It's how people get perceived and are treated as a result.
