My goodness! What has Pete Buttigieg done to you? Pete Buttigieg is MORE than qualified to be Secretary of Transportation. First of all, how are the recent failures of airlines (due mostly to weather) his fault? The U.S. has been privatizing the flight industry for decades, and Republicans have done everything they can to snatch away consumer protections. Everyone hates "the government" but when there's a problem, then they call on "the government" to fix it. Talk to Congress.
The same is true of the freight train industry. The people who are anti-regulation and who allow mile-long cars of poisonous materials to trek across tracks, seek someone to blame outside of their own industry. Talk to Congress.
The popularly known "Mayor Pete," though the leader of a small city, was clean-energy friendly and forward-thinking in his approach to government. He is a polymath with several interests, and is someone who thinks not only quickly, but also deeply. He has plenty of expertise and brings value to the position. Most Republican Secretaries of Transportation have been shills for big business.
"Buttigieg is a grossly incompetent failure, and we all know it." Really? "All" is a lot of people, and I'm pretty sure that the "all" of whom you speak have much more on their minds than the many responsibilities of the Secretary of Transportation.
Although it can be too long, sensationalized, and often superficial, one thing that the Presidential primary process does is to introduce us to effective, but unknown, leaders who may be candidates for future campaigns or who have particular skills that will enhance a Cabinet. Buttigieg is one of those people. So sorry you don't recognize his qualifications. I'm glad President Biden did.
