I write about "race" a great deal because despite the number of topics in which I'm interested, or whatever my talents and skills are, my brown skin is still what defines my place in American society. If there were another circumstance which affected my life so thoroughly, then I would probably write about that. However...
I get about a dollar a day from Medium, when I'm having my best month, so I don't depend on writing about "race for spending money." If people don't want to read about "race," then they are free to choose other topics. People choose to read about race because they're interested in it. Those who write about it write because it's important to us, not because we're pandering to an audience.
I will add that KourtneyNicole herself writes about "race" a lot. If she wanted to decrease the number of articles people see on the topic, then she could always write less about it as well.
