I am a politically active little old lady, who pays attention, asks questions, reads books, and has a lot of opinions. I also have a tendency to lecture.

I am not a military historian. However, I know that one discipline can incorporate wisdom and practices from other disciplines in order to further and strengthen its own achievements.

So, Progressives, I’m talking to you. I want to discuss a principle that I hope will both encourage and convince you to participate more fully in the Democratic Party, particularly as we approach November.

The Democrats are currently split between “the Centrists” and “the Progressives,” we’re told, and the twain aren’t thinking about meeting. Progressives are really tired of weak, namby-pamby Centrists who, inevitably, fall to the demands of corporations, thus endangering our planet from its warming crisis and privileging the wealthy over the poor. They fold in the face of recalcitrant Republicans, allowing every program they claim to value to be nickeled and dimed into near non-existence before some diminished version is passed at long last. They repeatedly fail to keep promises made to black and brown people, although they depend on their votes to get elected.
