"Strictly grammatical terms" are prescriptive. In black vernacular, "woke" is the present tense, as its meaning is "to be awake or aware." It continues to be a continual state of being, so to speak, so it definitely does not imply an end. (I say that as an English Major and grammar nerd.)
Despite my older age, I remain curious, and proudly so. As a black person, however, I must remain perpetually "woke" for my own safety. Let the right attempt to use it as a pejorative, which they can do because not enough people know what it really signifies. Let's teach them and continue to use the term proudly. Stay woke.
