Thank you so much for writing this. Too many repeat what they hear instead of finding out for themselves and knowing. Thus, Republicans have misrepresented CRT as both more inclusive American History AND are actually fighting DEI under its name.

What happens next is that well-meaning people, in their efforts to demonstrate either their sympathy or their own openness, then begin to assert proudly that THEY'RE "teaching" CRT, thus placing themselves exactly where Republicans want them. You can't be either "for" or "against" it unless you know what it is, and most folks don't yet know what it is.
