That's entirely possible, but all of us need to be aware of how not visit our own stress on those we love. Unfortunately, I know of many families of color who live with their children in near silence or in unhelpful speech all of the time, no matter their circumstances.

Yes, it is definitely an issue among those who are poorer; a look at the statistics confirms this, and that could be due to more stressful lives, lack of education, and many other factors, but I see Black culture contributing as well. I can't say enough about the work of Dr. Ron Ferguson, who works with low-income families and deals with this very issue. PLEASE look up his program.
