The author is right. Too many Americans don't know what voting is for. They know that every four years they leave their homes and select "who they like better." They know little about how government works, and even less that they're supposed to be voting for a platform and vision of the future, not an individual. Call me an overeducated Eastern liberal. I don't care. I am comfortable that I at least know how government works more than most people. There are a lot of people I "like," but if they don't know how to drive, then I'm not letting them get behind the wheel that has a car with me in it.
