The "nuclear family" is Mom, Dad, kids, and Spot or Puff. (The nucleus, the kernel.) The "extended family," in which people lived for centuries, is the one that includes the grandparents, the single aunt, uncle, etc. As I pointed out, that's how many immigrant families live now--they share housing, they share child-care responsibilities, they share finances. Think of the "typical" American family. Their mode of being isn't together, but "space." BLM isn't saying that only single-parent homes aren't valid. Where have they said that?

Since I'm black and my life matters, then BLM is definitely for me! We know that in a perfect world "all lives matter," but in this country, at this time, people need to be reminded that our lives are important too. If they were, then we wouldn't have so many black people dead after traffic violations while white mass murderers get called "Sir" while they're being arrested (alive.)
