There is probably no shorter course to fame (or infamy) than being a Black Republican. You're a lot less noticeable swimming with a stream of dark fish than as a dark fish swimming in a white stream. In the South, Black people who should know better vote for them because they're Black. White people, who want to disavow being racist, vote for you because you're Black. They know what they were doing.

I'm going to make some enemies here, but I'm going to say it. Michael Steele may not be "crazy" and anti-Black, but he has benefited from White racism more than any other Black person in the country, other than Clarence Thomas. Does Steele think he would have been made RNC Chair if Barack Obama had not been elected President? No, Republicans needed a relatively-light-skinned, good-looking Black guy to counter Obama's popularity? Does Michael Steele know how he got where he is, or does he believe it was actually his own merit? Whites LOVE Affirmative Action when it means that the Black person they include is secretly one of them. Or, if you're Clarence Thomas, Tim Scott, or Candace Owens, not-so-secretly one of them.
