There's a vast difference between "Southie" and the South End. Those two neighborhoods are about as opposite as Donald Trump and AOC. The South End became the trendy, and ridiculously expensive place to live in the mid-1970s and it has a large gay and Spanish-speaking population. Southie is the home of the Bulger Brothers and the St. Patrick's Day Parade.
