These arguments are neither "strained" nor "specious" just because you claim they are. An honest black police officer will admit to being afraid of black men, and an honest police officer will also admit that their authoritarian tendencies are triggered by the least perceived amount of resistance.

The fact is, police departments are both authoritarian AND racist. If a white person had been stopped for a traffic violation, they would probably be alive now. If the cops had been white in this case, they would not have been fired immediately. They would be on leave with pay while the department "reviewed the circumstances." Yeah, still racist, whether you care to admit it or not.
