Unfortunately, presidencies become more performative because a superficial public demands it. I hate to say that the taller, better-looking candidate with nicer hair is generally the one who wins the office, but if you examine the presidencies since 1960, you'll see that that's true.
For whatever reason, we believe that presumed wealth, fame, and more-or-less good looks give us some proximity to power and magically rubs off on us. The same people who fear how old Joe Biden is are the same ones who worship a 93-year-old Clint Eastwood. I bet if he ran, they'd vote for him.
