Walter, these people know that their vote has consequences, which is why they vote the way they do. There are a few writers here who constantly beat the drum that all US strife is really due to class, and not "race." However, those people repeatedly vote against their own economic interests in an effort to deprive people who don't look like them.

They can't act with responsibility and respect, because they have none for so many people. Their lives are only worthwhile if they spend every waking hour attempting to belittle people they consider "less than."

Their zero-sum thinking deprives them of advantages they can't imagine, because they can't imagine that others are capable of bringing them advantages. So much the worse for all of us.
