We agree. I heard the thought that it was glass from a shattered teleprompter, which I'm inclined to believe. I watched the RNC last night on C-SPAN (know your enemy) and I was disgusted with the number of speakers saying that "God's plan" was clearly to spare Trump for bigger and better things. I guess the one dead and two seriously-wounded bystanders were just a sacrifice to the larger cause.
