What? "Hurt feelings?" If being disrespected during a Joint Session of Congress by a racist Congressman is only "hurt feelings," then you must have some really thick skin. Is having a Supreme Court Justice nominee denied by a phalanx of Republicans "hurt feelings," or is it a political move that fundamentally began to change the complexion of the Court? Is having your programs voted down for no other reason than that they're yours, "hurt feelings," or is it a disservice to the millions of Americans who could have benefited from them? In fact, why should a so-called "loyal opposition" be so eager to inflict hurt feelings?

I understand your point about generational racism, but by dint of his exceptionalism, President Obama was subjected to more outright racism in eight years, than many people experience in decades. Racists don't care about your historic past. All they care about is your present presence on a scale of light to dark. If that's how you look, then that's how you're treated. It doesn't take generations of harm to discover that. It takes about five minutes.
