What need to be taught in American schools are Critical Thinking, Critical Reading, and Media Analysis. At some point in the past couple of decades, expertise became "elitism" and lack of information became "freedom." Everyone fancies themselves knowledgeable simply because they have an opinion without realizing that while they have a right to an opinion, not every opinion deserves to be considered seriously.
