Whenever I hear "Identity Politics," which is just a catch-all bogeyman term from the Right, I want to laugh. Black people, brown people, indigenous people, and so on, did not label themselves! We were labeled by white males so as to separate us from them and to secure their status as top of the human heap.
Black people didn't voluntarily come to the Americas and label ourselves as "black." Women didn't decide to be discriminated against just because they lack male anatomy. LGBQT people would love to live the same lives as everyone else. The only difference between "us" and "them" is who they love. They didn't declare themselves as "different." People who were afraid of them did.
