While we're reminding people that "...under God..." in the Pledge and "In God we Trust" on money were both added during the Eisenhower administration to differentiate us from "the Godless Communists," let us also inform people (who I'm sure did not know before now) that THE PLEDGE WAS WRITTEN BY A SOCIALIST. Take that, MAGA!

School children first recited the Pledge of Allegiance this way:

“I pledge allegiance to my Flag and to the Republic for which it stands one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.”
