Why do you want to omit music that we both know exists? If the music fits the bill, then it counts. Those songs are genuinely part of US history. You don’t want us attempting to erase history, do you?

I subscribe to a couple of right-wing websites, just to see what the other side is up to. If I set some of those comments to music, I’d have PLENTY of songs voicing those very sentiments that are quite contemporary. Nice try, said the black woman, darkly.
