A quick recap of Part I. The Disney Corporation is shooting a live-action The Little Mermaid, and in a cowardly capitulation to the wicked “Woke-ists,” the new mermaid is being portrayed by a black actress. There are many who are not amused.

Disney is deliberately stirring up controversy. Disney is re-making a “classic” film for no reason. Disney is pandering to a “multi-cultural” audience and dissing white people. Disney is changing a fairy tale that “everyone knows” already. Disney is practicing “reverse racism.” Disney is offending my sensibilities by having the audacity to alter a cherished, childhood memory. I, for one, will not be patronizing this new, controversial, unnecessary, racist, and disrespectful film. (Stamp foot; toss head.)

The Facebook post I first referenced now has 764,000 reactions and 58,000 comments. Fire, flood, famine, and plague clearly do not merit the amount of concern that a black mermaid does. Unflagging fidelity to one’s childhood nostalgia is, obviously, the most consequential matter in the world.
