YDenise, did you read my response carefully? Did you read it at all? I explained how the legislative process works, and I let yellopain explain it because his version is more fun than mine. I'm sorry to say this, but if you don't know how Congress passes legislation, then you don't know how it works and you don't understand the game.

We can vote all we want, but do we vote with knowledge? How can Obama and the Democrats "put up a fight" if they don't even have the votes to get the fight started? Obama deemed nothing about racial protections. I explained the actions of the Supreme Court to you and the subsequent actions of state legislatures in the South, and you responded as if you did not read it at all. I have nothing against allowing gay people to marry, because Civil Rights for one should be Civil Rights for all. Rich white men still believe that they have the license to decide who gets rights and when they should get them. We need to have majority power in all three branches of government if we want anything done at all.

You should know that Barack Obama would NEVER have nominated John Roberts to the Supreme Court. If you don't know that, it makes me wonder how much you don't know. He was appointed by George Bush in 2005.

As I reminded you, once Republicans were in charge of the Senate, they marched in lockstep to deny Barack Obama his Supreme Court choice. That would not have happened had folks shown up in 2014. How did Black legislators do what they did in the past? The Congress and Senate had Democratic majorities, that's how. Sadly, that is rarely the case these days. Even now, Republicans hold the House by a mere four votes, which is all it takes to tank Democratic plans. Democrats hold the Senate by one vote, which we could lose if we don't all turn out in November.

Did you work for State Senate candidates or National Senate candidates? If so, then you could only have worked for Rafael Warnock, because no other Black candidates have won in the South except for Tim Scott, and you don't sound as though you would have worked for him.

Unfortunately, you are operating from indignation and lack of knowledge, as do many Black folks. You want to believe what you want to believe in spite of information that you could easily look up yourself. Please, please don't continue to argue with me when all you supply are angry opinions that have no basis in fact.
