Yes. I know of the way Asian parents, as a rule, raise their children. However, respect for formal education is also a hallmark of Asian families. I'd rather have a stern family that revered education than one that was not only stern but also hindered my path to learning. Every culture has its drawbacks, but there is no debating who does better academically.
