You didn't need any clues that these fools were racists. They didn't feel contempt, I believe. They felt fear, envy, and that particular existential dread white people feel when they encounter a black person who's smarter than they are. As they sometimes say in my 'hood, "I been knew that." You're a better person than I am. That's all I'll say.
